Little travel annoyances

My third nonsense post today covers forgetting the tooth brush slash tooth paste at home when traveling. This will happen when you are stuck somewhere where they don’t sell any of the above. Chances are you won’t need such items in such places. It’s the tooth paste, this time. And the place is a forest, in case you forgot - see my previous posts for details about the location.

The other item I forgot at home is the usb cable for the camera. I guess pictures will have to wait. Or you. This wouldn’t be the case if gadgets came all with the same kind of usb cable. But no! Examples of other usb cables I do have with me: iShuffle usb cable and HTC usb cable. Too many cables, too many usbs, too many gadgets.

(In the background, the Polish news in Polish with a feature about homosexuality, folowed by a feature about children social cases, and then a crime, the Polish business woman in the UK. It’s official, I don’t understand Polish.)

Meanwhile, back at the wireless ranch

Meanwhile, back at the ranch, I am the first guest to check in. It’s cold, forest cold. And I have not brought with me a single long sleeve t-shirt, not one. The TV is small and talks back to me in Polish. Oh, the bad habits of doubling. Subtitles, people, subtitles!

Yours truely is basically on the webs from the heart of a forest.

My Polish driver has apparently ditched me for some tramp called Irina. We have never met, my driver and I, because, and I quote him, “I was waiting at the airport with Miss Irina”. He told me all this when he called my room and offered to cover my taxi ride. But it’s my generous day with drivers: I have already had three in my life since I woke up this morning, so one less will do.

I am kinda hungry so I will go out to grab something, although there is a chance I will actually have to hunt. It’s a forest, remember?

(In the background, the Polish TV news in Polish about euro-elections,  Gdansk and the Pope. Roger and out! looks like you’re in for a couple of nonsense posts, I count two so far.)

Late or tomorrow

That’s how LOT, the Polish Airlines, has been mockingly recommended to me earlier today. And not at all what I came to experience.

Of course, I was seated next to a Chinese. Those who know me will also know why this is ironic. Otherwise, there were even a few empty places on that plane. He was speaking Polish. I, on the other hand, I was not, and it’s unlikely the situation will change soon.

Apart from that I was just completely lost and could not recognize anything at all from my last visit. Nothing at all of that last time’s bus station atmosphere, it’s all gone. It’s been two years already? Warsaw airport weather is grey, so no regrets.

The personal soundtrack is totally surprising as well. I do not recognize about 60 to 70% of the tracks. Like these songs were not hosted on my hard-disk in the past year. I cannot hum along, which is good since that would be partly embarrassing in public.

I wish there was wireless. I mean there is, but I cannot be bothered to carry all my personal belongings within range.

Mercurial

Yesterday I was looking forward to my escape, today I don’t feel like getting out of bed. Weather forecast for Krakow is 15 Celsius and showers ranging from “heavy” to “mild”.
